Misc.

I don't know how long it has been for some of you since you have last flew some where, it has been 17 years or so for me. It was an experience to say the least. I was in a rush to get to the airport anyways and I was flying out of Detroit, which is a pretty decent sized airport I think. I had never been in an airport by myself at all so this was all new to me I parked my car in the airport parking and got on the shuttle, when we finally got to the drop off point he was saying something about where to go and to tell you the truth I only heard part of it so I went up the escalator to the ticket part and I was lost for a few minutes I could not figure out how to get my ticket. My company had already payed for it I just had to pick it up so I finally found someone to ask and I felt pretty dumb, all I had to do is slide my debit card in the machine and it got all my information from that. After wasting that 20 minutes it was on to security. Things have really changed and of course I didn't follow the directions and forgot to take my inhaler out of my carry on bag so I got picked for additional random screening which wasn't that bad. The lady I had going through all my stuff was pretty cool she was making joking around with me about not flying for so long. After it was all said an done it was pretty cool to fly again at first I was a little nervous just seeing a few days earlier on the news a plane that the landing gear were turned when it was coming in for the landing and all of a sudden they corrected them selves. It was beautiful coming in to Tennessee seeing all of the hills and lakes. I will definitely fly more now.

  1. I love flying. I've had some similar experiences that you had when traveling. International traveling is quite an experience too if you ever get the chance to do that. When I flew to Peru I went with a huge group with people that knew what they were doing and knew everything about flying and airports and all that matter. I was still new to it all, so I just followed along. A year later I went to Haiti, by myself, and met up with a family down there once I got there. It was probably one of the scariest traveling experiences I've ever had. I flew from Columbus to Miama, Fl. and had to stay the night.. by myself.. in a hotel overnight and then fly out the next morning. I was calling my parents like every hour just so I didn't get scared ha! The next morning I couldn't figure out where to go. Even though I was in Miama, Fl it seemed like NONE of the people spoke ANY English! I was ridicious. The people kept telling me the wrong way to go and everything. It was a scary experience. I made it to Haiti just fine but the airports there are NOT anything like US. It's super tiny, hot, small, and everyone wants to help you get your bag and sometimes takes it away from you so that you pay them... money is really an issue down there. People will do anything and everything for money. So yeah, I hope you don't have a bad experience like I did. Flying is a lot of fun once you get the chance to do it a few times.

  2. I could not imagine flying to another country! Just flying two states away was crazy for me. I would really like to travel and see the world though, I really want to go to Ireland that would probably be my first over seas destination. I am going to get my passport as soon as possible. I was talking to my supervisor at work and he said if I had it the company would probably send me to Japan that is where our parent company is based. That would be pretty cool to see the different life styles of all of the people and seeing how other people live. I feel it would give you a better understanding on how good we really have it here at home and maybe see things in a different perspective. That is really cool that you went to Haiti, did you go after the earthquake? I could only imagine how scary it would have been not knowing anybody, and being so far from home and not knowing how people acted in another country. I don't think I would have liked the people pulling my bags out of my hands and stuff that would have been a little weird. So the family you met were they nice and everything? How long were you there? Did it make you feel any different about how we act here and take things for granted ?
