Digital Circuits #2

In my digital circuits class we are just finishing our first lab. We had to buy a breadboard, which is a little circuit board that you can plug different things into it like LED's,timers, compasitors, resisters and so on. You hook a power supply and a ground up to it and configure different simulations. It was hard at first but by the end i had alot better understanding of the lab. I got my LED to flash that was pretty neat. It is fun using the scope to watch the wave forms from the LED. From that we have to get our results. We had to find the period which is one whole wave from either the leading edge of the form to the next leading edge. We also had to find the duty cycle and frequency which are hard for me for some reason. After talking to a few guys from my class and one of our maintenance guys at work I am finally starting to figure out how to find the frequency. The only thing about the lab that i do not like is having to write everything down. We have to have a title page, we also have to do a pre-lab and a results and conclusion. All together it will be about three pages long. It seems like a lot just for a lab but i guess we have to do it so the teacher can see how we came to our conclusions and if we made any mistakes they would be easier to find and fix.

  1. Hey, I agree with you it was neat to hook everything up but I’m hoping to day that my group slows down and shows me what they got so far. YEs it sucks about the writing part not at all looking forward to that. At least we get to take turns so we don’t have to be the one doing it every time. That scares me a little because I want to make sure that it is done right. Did you look at the guide a line of how everything has to be typed out that is a lot to get done? Think I liked it better when we was reading in the book and answering the questions. It's like a will lose thing because I love the hands on, but I would rather answer questions then do more typing on this computer. Was you able to get your narrative essay done I hope so. If you get this before class makes sure you print out you reader response papers and bring four copies of your essay to class. Getting tiered of doing this stuff to its hard for me to pick who I want to come on. Don’t want to seem like I’m going to the same people over and over. There are a lot of people in our class that has not done the blog post like we need to have done. I guess I will just keep bugging you and the few others that are keeping up. Well I think I’m almost there on the 250 word thing so I will let you go see you in class.

  2. Hello it's me; I loved the labs that we have done so far. Although it was not is to follow in my eyes I was able to get the most of it with the help of my lab partners. I have to do this third lab paper work that is due on Monday. Not for sure what all they want to know. I think I'm going to spend all day Friday with Tom setting everything up again. I want him to walk me through it the right way without all the guess work. I really want to get this class more than any another class. This is what I want to do when I get out of college. It's all new information to me so it’s not that easy to grasp. I'm not looking forward to chapter three it was nice not to have all that reading. I hope that chapter three also helps me better understand more of how to hook up the bread boards. I also hope that chapter three goes by fast so we can get back to the lab work. Have you had to feel out a report yet if yes is it really hard to do or is it self-explanatory? I want to get at least a passing grad in this class. I also just turned in the essay that is due. I’m kind of worried though because I used something’s from the book but I gave the tittle and what chapter the information was from. I guess will find out in a few days.
